Common questions

How does matching work?

You answer a short lifestyle questionnaire (sleep schedule, cleanliness, guests, noise, budget, area). RoomRight computes a compatibility score between you and other members and shows compatible candidates in your Discover feed. Tap "knock" to express interest — if they knock back, it's a match and a private chat opens.

How do I report or block someone?

Open your chat with them, tap the menu in the top corner, and choose Report (you'll be asked to pick a reason) or Block. Blocking removes the match and they won't be able to contact you again. You can also unmatch from the same menu.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Delete account in the app. This removes your profile and personal data from our systems, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Why can't I send a message sometimes?

Chats in RoomRight are end-to-end encrypted. If you see "Setting up secure chat — try again in a moment," the app is finishing the secure setup for that conversation — wait a few seconds and try again. Messages are never sent unencrypted.

Why do old messages say "Unable to decrypt"?

Because chats are end-to-end encrypted, the keys live only on your device. If you reinstall the app or switch to a new phone, messages from before the change can no longer be read — not even by us. New messages work normally.

How do I manage notifications?

You can turn notifications on or off any time in the app's Settings, or in iOS Settings → Notifications → RoomRight.

Who can use RoomRight?

RoomRight is for adults aged 18 and over. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up to confirm this.
